WIFE | MAMA | PHOTOGRAPHER
I am Loida Mariela Aguilar, mostly known as Mariela.
I am 30 years old, a wife to an amazing man, a mama to 4 wonderful children ages 3 - 13 and a photographer. I was born and raised in Brownsville, Tx and have been in this industry for 2 years now. I consider myself an introvert, but with photography I am not so sure of that anymore as I love to meet new families and couples!
As a mama to 4 children, I have learned about the importance of documenting every moment with our babies, because time is a thief. But often times or better said 99% of the time us mamas are the ones behind the camera- capturing every single moment. Book the session mama, jump in front of the camera and let me capture you with those beautiful babies. I know how chaotic it can be to book a session with kiddos. From planning a session, picking out and buying outfits for everyone, getting dressed and rushing out the door to get there in time... (sigh) it may seem like a lot, because it is! Having children is a lot and I get it mama! From mama to mama you will be walking into a safe and non judgmental space. Rest assured, I will make your session as fun and as smooth as I possibly can. You will play, you will laugh and you will remember this moment with your family and I promise you, once you see your gallery... it will all be worth it!
I am a hopeless romantic! Give me all the romantic & rom-com movies and all the engagement/couples sessions! I love to see and capture the chemistry between two individuals in love with each other. If you're a future bride or just a partner looking to book a session, don't look any further. Booking a session with me will feel like another date/adventure with your partner. Be ready for lots of kissing, piggy back rides and some running!
Regardless of the type of session you're hoping to book, I am open to any and all ideas! As mentioned above, my priority is to make you feel comfortable around me. If you're like me, anxious in front of a camera and don't know how to pose- don't stress! I will help you and guide you throughout the entire session. I am looking forward to meeting anyone reading this in hopes of booking a session. Message me, let's talk! Allow me capture you in all your essence and capture beautiful memories for you!
the story of a photographer
My love for photography began when I was a teen. My father had bought me my very first Sony camera. I loved the idea of posing and editing photos for myspace. Though I didn't really put my skills into play until my son was born in 2010. I am sure a lot of you mamas can relate when I tell you that my world revolved around my son Elijah. I wanted to capture every single milestone, every little moment whether it was some mischief or a sweet moment-just about every thing that makes him HIM. I would take my camera everywhere. In 2012, friends and family began to encourage me to get into photography and I did. I had friends hiring me for portraits and photos for their babies. Unfortunately, in 2014 I had to put an end to it. I was young, naive, living life and making mistakes and drastic changes, until I settled down. I met the love of my life in 2015. Life has been wonderful, a bit chaotic and busy with 3 new girls - the last one being born during a pandemic (COVID-19). I will admit that becoming a mom for a second, third and fourth time, really affected me in ways I could never imagine both physically and mentally. With my last pregnancy, I experience severe depression, I felt lost. I know many mamas can relate. We get so caught up being mama and that's all we know what to do and with time we lose sight of who we really are to our core. I remember telling my husband I wanted to work or go back to school. I needed to do something to find myself again. Then one day in 2021 he brought me a professional camera, because he believed in me and knew that this was going to bring me back and here I am!
Photography has also saved me in so many ways I can't even explain. When I leave my home and press that shutter, I go into a different world. It's pure bliss. I go into a creative space where my eyes see things nobody else does. I get to witness, create and capture beautiful moments for other families. I love what I do, I am passionate about my art and I work hard to become better each day. I have not been able to find my niche just yet, but I am warming up to the idea of becoming a wedding photographer one day.
To my husband, thank you for being my biggest supporter and for always believing in me. To my clients, thank you for trusting me, for believing me and supporting me as well. I couldn't have done it without you. To my friends and family, thank you for your support always. With love, Mariela.
